Maria Toorpakai Wazir is a star squash player with a promising international career. Born in Waziristan, a highly conservative region of Pakistan, she had to disguise herself as a boy when she took up the sport - and later received ominous threats for playing in shorts.

MIDDLESEX JUNIORS at tournaments including British Junior Open
It was fantastic to see Middlesex had a record number of players making it into the British Junior Open 2013 in Sheffield.
This is the most prestigious individual tournament in the world. Currently the Egyptians, Malaysians, Pakistan are dominating Junior Squash.
MSRA County Closed & Graded Tournament 2013
Coolhurst Squash Club 18th-20th January 2013
The weather took centre stage at this year’s tournament as the heavy snowfall threatened to cause major disruption to proceedings. Luckily the capital did not come to a grinding halt and even the engineering works on the Northern Line that supplied the nearest tube station would not stop the players getting there. This year saw a record entry of just over 100 people into the tournament...
